Getting Ready For The Big Day โ€“ Starbreaker Is Coming

These words pretty much sum up the entirety of the monthโ€™s focus for me this update! Pretty much everything for this month was centered around getting Starbreaker Volume 1 ready for itโ€™s release this coming month โ€“ and boy was there a ton of stuff to do! From cover updating, to pre-orders, to website updates, me and the team were busy pretty much non-stop with all of the small behind-the-scenes stuff that it takes to get ready for big (or what we hope will be) launch like this!

But that also means that the Starbreaker Pre-order is now live!! If you havenโ€™t grabbed it just yet, you can find it over on Amazon or Audible! If youโ€™re looking to snag it on Kindle Unlimited โ€“ the book will be releasing on March 4th!

In any case, because of all of this planning, there just wasnโ€™t all that much forward progress as much as I would have liked in terms of new writing, but with the short month and the time that we had to work with, that just couldnโ€™t be helped.

But Little Progress Isnโ€™t No Progress

The sharp eyed readers here will notice a bunch of new items on the update list, plus the return of an old problem child! Starting from the top โ€“ I did manage to get a great deal of planning on for Starbreaker 4 which I will (hopefully) be zooming onto full steam this month! To that end as well I am working on getting Ascend Online 6 planned out so I can start it as my โ€˜secondaryโ€™ project and ideally work it in parallel with Starbreaker. Iโ€™m not sure yet how that will work out, but I do want to forewarn everyone who is following Ascend Online that this and subsequent books are likely going to be on the shorter side when compared to the previous novels.

This is mostly because in recent years Iโ€™ve started planning and writing my novels in a much tighter fashion and Iโ€™ve found that just works for my process so much better than it has in the past with my larger, chunkier novels. Beyond that too, there are unfortunately the financial considerations here as well โ€“ big books are simply more expensive to produce when it comes to time, audiobook costs, and physical books cost. In any case, my goal is to still deliver super fun and satisfying experiences for you all with the added benefit of the last couple books in the series coming out much quicker than they would otherwise.

Lastly on our list here is the reappearance of Scion of Magic! Iโ€™ll be honest here โ€“ this book has been a struggle, if only because how experimental it is for me in terms of writing and scope. Iโ€™ve been way out of my comfort zone for this series and it has shown in every draft so far. After sitting and mulling over all the feedback that youโ€™ve all given me, I think I have new track to take on this story, one much closer to the style Iโ€™m used to writing, and Iโ€™m looking forward to returning to it when time permits. Since I have a great deal amount of content written for this, Iโ€™ll likely work on it intermittently alongside AsO and Starbreaker, but I have no reasonable timeline as to how this will look just yet.

Oh, And Also โ€“ Iโ€™m Travelling Again This Month!

For the first time ever, I am heading out west this month as I go over to San Francisco for the Game Developers Conference (GDC)! Truly I donโ€™t know what to expect while Iโ€™m down here โ€“ but if you know me, you know my passion for all things video games! Iโ€™ll be down in the area networking, learning some new skills, and eagerly looking to see what new things are coming out in the gaming world! If any of you happen to be in the area or see me at the conference, feel free to say hi!

And Thatโ€™s A Wrap For The Month!

Weโ€™re back to the task here! I hope that you all have a wonderful month and consider checking out Starbreaker when it releases! So far the feedback as been nothing short of stellar and I hope you all enjoy what I have in store for you!

In the meantime, I truly appreciate all of the support and encouragement that youโ€™ve all sent and continue to send my way! I wouldnโ€™t be able to do this without all of your support! As always, I hope you all stay happy and healthy until we meet again in April! (Oh, and also when Starbreakerโ€™s official launch hits in a couple days!)

Hi! Excited about all your projects. I was wondering, will mark of kings have a conclusion? I know that was something you worked on with Bryce, but I havenโ€™t seen updates on this one from either of you. Thanks!

Hey! Bryce and I certainly do hope to finish the series off one day soon, but we have no active timeline for it at the moment! Right now we are both prioritizing our other works that have admittedly taken off in popularity. Once we have those projects squared away, we do plan to return to the series, however we simply can’t say as to when right now!
